Agricultural Sisters United
Alpha Sigma Upsilon was established and founded on five specific pillars. These pillars are Leadership, Citizenship, Scholarship, Fellowship, and Sound Character. Women of Alpha Sigma Upsilon should embody all of these pillars and practice them in their every day lives. Many of our activities and events revolve around the pillars. Below is a description of each pillar.
Mission Statement: Our goal is to provide a place to develop life- long friendships, promote personal development and become academically successful while providing service to each other and our community.
Leadership: Leaders take the initiative to aid others in a wholesome manner throughout their daily activities. Leaders sacrifice their personal interests in order to yield to the needs of others. Leaders need wisdom and self-confidence to affect change in all aspects of their lives.
Citizenship: The Pillar of citizenship can be reached in a variety of ways. The willingness to work for the benefit of those in need without compensation or recognition of any kind is a quality that is essential in an Alpha Sigma Upsilon sister. As a chapter, ASU is highly concerned with giving its all to the Ohio State and Columbus community.
Standards of Excellence
Fellowship: A women who practices fellowship has the community at interest, and experiences friendly associations, especially with people of shared interests. They value fun and good fellowship as the cement of the community. These women take the extra step to work with others within the community and strive to create new connections.
Scholarship: Scholarship is characterized by a commitment to learning. A student is willing to spend the necessary time to cultivate her mind in the quest for knowledge. This pillar can only be achieved through diligence and effort. Scholarship means always doing the best work possible, regardless of impending reward.
Sound Character: Character is what distinguishes one individual from another. It is the products of constant striving to make the right choices day after day. Women with good character demonstrate respect, responsibility, trustworthiness, fairness, caring, and citizenship in all of their actions.
